Description from the seller
Vintage 1970s-1980s Bookends - English Bulldogs in Ceramic Resin - Original Patina
A distinctive pair of vintage bookends dating from the 70s and 80s, perfect for decorating a bookshelf, a professional studio, or a desk in a classic or modernist style.
The bookends depict two majestic English Bulldogs in a proud pose, set on elegant bases decorated with relief friezes in an antique style.
Made in ceramic resin (ceramoplastic) of the era, a heavy and robust composite that reproduces the texture of ceramic and allows extraordinary definition of details (such as the typical bulldog folds and the decorative base details).
Probably produced in Italy in the 1970s and 1980s, in the Lucca and Garfagnana area in Tuscany, which at that time became a world leader in the production of statues and home decor accessories in "ceramic resin" and "cold casting".
Beautiful painterly effect of the dog fur with dark nuances that enhance the sculpture’s three-dimensionality.
Excellent and intact. The objects are clean, with no cracks, chips, or losses. They preserve their original patina and the coloring is vivid and uniform across the entire surface.
Dimensions of each single bookend:
• Height: 17.5 cm
• Base: 14.5 x 8.5 cm
• Weight each: 850 g
A collector’s piece ideal for breed enthusiasts and for anyone seeking a retro, characterful, high-impact decorative detail.
Photos should be considered an integral part of the description; shipping will be fast and insured for the full value. We do not ship outside Europe.
