Gala Young Da Taschino pocket watch, Swiss Made, hand-wound mechanical movement with 17 jewels and Incabloc, steel case 45 mm, white dial with large black Arabic numerals and a peripheral 13–24 scale, back cover decorated with a running steam locomotive; circa the 1960s; in good condition with signs of wear, in working order and shipped insured.
Description from the seller
A distinctive Gala Young Swiss Made, vintage mechanical pocket watch dating roughly to the 1960s, characterized by an aesthetic configuration tied to the tradition of railway watches and an interesting case back decorated with a steam locomotive.
The case measures 45.5 mm in diameter with a thickness of about 11.5 mm, classic dimensions for a pocket watch and capable of offering excellent legibility. The white dial features large black Arabic numerals, a peripheral scale numbered from 13 to 24, and the Gala Young signature. At the bottom are clearly printed the inscriptions “17 JEWELS – INCABLOC” and “SWISS MADE.”
The arrangement of the small seconds at 3 o’clock is interesting, a less conventional solution than the traditional position at 6, capable of giving the dial more personality.
The movement is a Swiss manual-wind mechanical movement with 17 jewels, equipped with Incabloc anti-shock protection. The mechanism is visible in the photographs with decorated bridges and a traditional regulator. Since a definite caliber code is not legible, it is preferred not to attribute one arbitrarily.
The aesthetically most distinctive element is the case back, entirely decorated with a moving steam locomotive, a theme particularly suited to a pocket watch and also interesting for railway-heritage collectors.
The specimen shows normal signs of use and aging on the case and case back; the dial appears overall legible. No documentation relating to a recent service is available. Water-resistance not tested and not guaranteed.
