This is an exceptionally rare and luxurious bibliophile edition of Jacques Cazotte's famous occult romance, Le Diable Amoureux. This specific edition features the text adaptation by the celebrated French writer Gérard de Nerval.
Published by Le Cénacle in 1946, the true mastery of this work lies in the striking original burin engravings by artist Jean Traynier. The typography was carefully executed by Pierre Gaudin, while the intricate illustrations were pressed under the direction of Paul Durupt at La Tradition.
This edition was strictly limited to a mere 110 copies worldwide. As confirmed by the justification page, this is copy number 99, belonging to the series of 56 copies printed on premium Grand Vélin de Lana paper.
