Giovanni Patrone - Rex e Conte di Savoia - 1970s

Splendid advertising poster, a 1970s reissue signed by the famous Italian poster artist Giovanni Patrone for the shipping company "Italia" Flotte Riunite Genova.
The poster celebrates the pride of Italy's civilian navy in the 1930s: the legendary 50,000-ton super-express liners Rex (historical winner of the Blue Ribbon) and Conte di Savoia. The work promotes the revolutionary and ultra-fast transatlantic route that connected Italy to New York in only six days and a half.
The majestic bows of the Rex and Conte di Savoia cutting across the Atlantic, with the background of the sea route stylized on the map. A masterpiece of futuristic dynamism and Art Deco geometries.
