Medieval / Viking Era Bronze Openwork Amulet Pendant (No reserve price)

Early Medieval Pendant — 9th–11th Century AD With its three circular openings, broad curved body, elongated suspension loop and rounded lower terminal, this distinctive pendant combines a simple form with a powerful visual presence. Two openings sit side by side above a third, forming a balanced composition at the centre of the design. Read symbolically, this threefold arrangement evokes unity, balance and spiritual protection, giving the piece a striking, talisman-like appearance. The curved sides frame the central openings, while the body narrows towards a rounded terminal. Slight asymmetry and irregular edges accentuate the object’s individual character. The dark patina, lighter areas of surface wear and localised green oxidation lend depth to the surface. The textured front contrasts with the comparatively plain reverse, revealing different aspects of the piece. The pendant’s strength lies in the simplicity of its form. Three openings and a distinctive outline create a compelling expression within a small object. Although its original religious meaning is undocumented, its appearance evokes the mystery and spiritual intimacy of a personal talisman. Period: 9th–11th century AD Condition: Surface wear, patina and localised oxidation. The brown cord is a modern display accessory
