Dal modello di Vincenzo Gemito (1852-1929) - Sculpture, Acquaiuolo - 55 cm - Patinated bronze

Suggestive depiction of the Neapolitan Acquaiuolo, one of the best-known subjects associated with Vincenzo Gemito's work. The figure, marked by great dynamism and attention to anatomical detail, recalls the popular tradition of 19th-century Naples.

The subject was developed by Gemito between 1880 and 1881 and was commissioned by Francis II of Bourbon, the last King of the Two Sicilies.

The sculpture features a brown patina, a remarkable stage presence, and a decorative base that further enhances its impact.

Piece of particular interest for collectors of Italian art, Neapolitan sculpture, and 19th-century works.
