Karel Appel (1921-2006) - L'éloge de la Folie

This silkscreen formed the cover of the series of the same name (L'éloge de la Folie). Special edition on thick, rigid cardboard, with an printed signature. Other copies that were issued did not have a signature.
In good condition: The silkscreen shows small signs of use in some areas.

Yves Riviere Editorial. Text by Jean-Clarence Lambert. Print run of 750 copies. N50 signed by the author and Karl Appel, offset text. Five color lithographs.

The edition I am offering in this auction has a curiosity: on the back, part of the drawing repeats (see the last photos with the black background). I don’t know why this is, perhaps an author’s proof? Therefore it could be the only existing one? On the back, there are signs that it had been glued to a board, perhaps that’s why it was never noticed that it had this hidden image!

It is in good condition, some signs of aging along an edge or corner, not very significant.

It will be well packed, in a large box with interior protections, so that it does not suffer any damage.
