GALAXIE - “In which world do we live?”
For GALAXIE, Vanessa Fodera transforms a commercial XXL PLAYMOBIL base of about 65 cm into a contemporary Pop Art sculpture.
This unique piece combines painting, graphic composition, printing and transfer techniques, resin, 3D printing, assembly, rhinestones and glossy lacquered finish.
The gradients of violet and blue evoke the Milky Way and nebulae. The numerous rhinestones with changing reflections recall stars and offer different nuances depending on the light.
The hairstyle was specially designed for this work and then produced in resin by 3D printing, profoundly altering the silhouette of the original base.
Visual references to luxury and Louis Vuitton are embedded within an artistic Pop Art approach to the image, value and symbols of our society.
Facing the immensity of the galaxy, the work poses a simple question:
In which world do we live?
Mixed media
The work combines surface preparation, painting, cosmic effects, graphic composition, printing and transfer, resin elements, 3D printing, assembly, rhinestone setting and glossy lacquered finish.
The whole is designed and produced in Vanessa Fodera’s studio from a deeply transformed commercial base.
