El Invierno is an 18th‑century oil painting from the Netherlands, attributed to the Dutch School, and sold with a frame.
Description from the seller
Title: The Winter
ㅤ
School: Dutch School (18th-19th century)
ㅤ
Style: Winter landscape painting in the Dutch tradition
ㅤ
Technique: Oil on canvas. Re-stretched.
ㅤ
State: Presents restorations. The work has been re-stretched, an intervention aimed at reinforcing and stabilizing the original support.
ㅤ
Circle and artistic influence:
The composition is inscribed in the tradition of the winter landscape developed by Dutch and Flemish painting of the 17th and 18th centuries. The meticulous depiction of rural architecture, bare trees and the small figures scattered across the landscape recalls the northern models devoted to seasonal scenes and rural views. It especially shows the influence of the Dutch landscape tradition, characterized by wide skies, open horizons and a careful integration of human activity within the natural environment.
ㅤ
The work represents an extensive winter landscape dominated by ochre, gray and earthy tones. In the center of the composition rises a rural architectural ensemble, formed by several buildings grouped around a main structure with a tower.
ㅤ
In the foreground and on both sides, large trees with bare branches act as natural framing elements and visually guide toward the architectural nucleus. Various small-scale figures appear dispersed across the ground, adding scale and a narrative component to the scene. To the right, an expanse of water opens up, extending the landscape’s depth toward the horizon. The broad, overcast sky, together with the restrained color palette, heightens the sense of cold and stillness typical of the winter season.
ㅤ
The work is presented with a wide-profile wooden frame with sober lines, finished in a light, slightly aged gilded tone. Its simple design allows the pictorial composition to remain the focal point.
ㅤ
Observations:
Present restoration. Re-stretched work. The re-stretching is a conservation intervention performed on the pictorial support.
ㅤ
The work may incur damages during transport even with proper packing. In such a case, we will require photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
ㅤ
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge for reasons such as being outside continental territory, excess dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge.
ㅤ
The courier that must cross the Swiss border can be delayed far longer than usual, so, if possible, to speed up processing, we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can unlock it and thus it can reach its destination. Experience has taught us that this is the most effective solution for both parties.
ㅤ
Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
