Two-piece sun dial compass set in a wooden box, dating to 2000–2010, made of brass and wood, in excellent condition with an engraved 'Gilbert & Sons London' on the brass and a copper plate with the historical “Equation of Time” table inside the lid.

Are you looking for a unique eye-catcher for your interior, on your desk, or on the bookshelf? This splendid, classic sun compass is made of heavy brass and comes in a matching wooden storage box with luxurious green felt lining.
Engraved in the brass on the sun compass is "Gilbert & Sons London".
On the inside of the lid there is a copper plate with the historic “Equation of Time” table (Should be faster than the dial / slow / slower), used to calculate the difference between apparent solar time and clock time.
Equipped with adjustment screws and a fold-out degree arc / surveying circle with Roman numerals.
This sun compass has an integrated compass with a lovely nameplate that again refers to Gilbert & Sons London (1895).
The wooden case has a beautiful warm grain, brass catches and protects the compass perfectly.
Ideal as a stylish gift, for collectors of nautical instruments or as an eye-catcher in a vintage/classic interior!
The sun compass, opened, measures a height of 10 cm and has a diameter of 10 cm.
The nice box with copper plate and green felt measures 12.5 x 12.5 cm; the height is 5 cm.
