Description from the seller
Title: Blue Still Life
ㅤ
School: European School (20th century)
ㅤ
Style: Figurative Post-Impressionism
ㅤ
Technique: Oil on canvas
ㅤ
Condition: Restorations present.
ㅤ
Circle and artistic influence:
The work is anchored in the European still life tradition of the 20th century, showing affinities with Post-Impressionist currents and with the modern renewal of the still life. The simplification of volumes, visible brushwork, and the expressive use of color recall the pictorial investigations derived from Paul Cézanne and from those artists who, during the early decades of the 20th century, placed special importance on constructing objects through color planes. The range of blues, ochers, and yellows gives the composition a marked visual unity.
ㅤ
Horizontal composition still life arranged on a table, featuring a large white and blue-tinted jug complemented by various ceramic pieces. In the center there are a small lidded container and a bowl, while to the right there is a plate with two yellow fruits. On the left, a dark bottle introduces a strong chromatic counterpoint and visually balances the jug’s volume.
The background is dominated by a wide cloth in yellow, ocher, green, and brown tones, whose folds are resolved with broad and clearly perceptible brushstrokes. The white cloth spread over the table acts as a link between the different elements and accentuates the cool tones of the ceramics. The handling of pictorial matter and the simplification of forms give the whole a modern and expressive character.
ㅤ
The work is presented framed by a simple and narrow frame, with a light finish, whose sobriety allows the painting’s main subject to remain front and center.
ㅤ
Observations:
The work presents restorations.
The work may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will require photographs of the damage to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge in any case.
The courier that must cross the Swiss border may be delayed much more than normal, so, if possible, to speed up processing we will provide the customs number that is holding the shipment so the customer can clear it and it can reach its destination. Experience has shown this to be the most effective solution for both parties.
Due to the high volume of shipments, orders may be delayed by more than three days, for which we apologize and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your order, please contact us via internal messaging.
