Description from the seller

Original exhibition poster dedicated to François Morellet (1926-2016), created for his exhibition at the Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven, presented from January 22 to February 28, 1971.

The poster was designed by the renowned Dutch graphic designer Jan van Toorn (1932-2020), a major figure in Dutch graphic design in the second half of the 20th century.

A composition highly representative of the experimental graphic design of that period: a large black-and-white halftone photograph image on a gray background, crossed by the name "morellet" in large yellow letters outlined in black.

This poster is officially documented in the Van Abbemuseum collections, which preserve a print measuring 87.9 × 61.4 cm, corresponding to the same edition.

Artist exhibited: François Morellet
Graphic design: Jan van Toorn
Museum: Stedelijk Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven
Year: 1971
Dimensions: 88 × 61 cm

Old condition showing several creases, folds, wear marks and small tears, especially along the edges and at the folding lines. The whole remains perfectly legible. The photographs are an integral part of the description and allow a precise appreciation of the conservation state.

Beautiful original poster bringing together François Morellet and Jan van Toorn, interesting for both a collector of concrete and geometric art and for a collection dedicated to European graphic design of the 1970s.
