Description from the seller

Atrr..Giuseppe Zola "Landscape with Wayfarers and a Fortified Village" oil on canvas of 72x60 cm without frame and 84x78 cm with frame..At the back bears the inscription Giù.Zola.F.
The work has an old frame and light restorations..Overall it is in good preserved condition..The painting shows the unmistakable compositional and stylistic approach of Giuseppe Zola's fortunate landscape production, a master of Brescia origin who long remained active in Ferrara for the most prestigious local and Estense commissions..The canvas fully expresses the artist's Arcadian and pre-Rococo taste, characterized by a windswept and scenographic nature structured for tree-filled backdrops that slope toward a mountainous and atmospheric background. The refined alternation of shaded zones and glimpses of light, together with the characteristic fluid chromatic application and the presence of small figure studies in the foreground, finds strong corroboration with the mature centers of the painter today preserved at the National Gallery of Ferrara and the BPER Banca collection..The important inscription found on the back significantly reinforces the observer’s link to the Brescia master...Important Brescia Collection. The frame is offered as a gift; therefore we do not accept complaints nor do we consider ourselves responsible for any damage during shipping...We do not ship outside Europe...
