Dante Alighieri’s La Commedia illustrated by Wolfango Peretti Poggi, a numbered, limited, special commemorative edition in three leather-bound volumes with a slipcase, 830 pages, published in 1972 by Giorgio De Fonseca, in like‑new condition.

'La Comedia' by Dante Alighieri. Work published on the occasion of the fifth centenary of the first edition printed, performed in Foligno in 1472, by Johann Newmeister. Limited and numbered edition in 1000 luxury copies, this specimen number 210. Work printed on papers specially manufactured with watermark, it was composed with typefaces from the editio princeps, cast for the occasion by Ruggero Olivieri.
moirée. Precious full leather bindings entirely hand-worked, raised bands, gilt titles. With three bronze medallions of cm 11.5, by the sculptor Master Amerigo Tot, applied to the covers, with portraits of Dante, Virgil, Beatrice.
The plates out of text are by Wolfango Peretti Poggi. Beautiful illustrations, most of which are in a 'fold out' version, some unfold to form multiple panels to admire in full the strength and beauty of the drawings. All illustrations present. The illustrations in excellent condition are presented loosely as issued by the publisher. Books with magnificent cases in excellent condition, some signs of wear at the corners and edges. To note very slight chafing to the spines. Work published in 1972 by Giorgio De Fonseca. Monumental work, extremely rare and of great value. One of a kind.
