The trench periscope binocular marked C.P. Goerz Berlin has an important historical peculiarity tied to the brand: the Berlin-based firm Optische Anstalt C.P. Goerz was one of the most renowned and historic producers of military optics, but its heavy production for the German armed forces was concentrated mainly during World War I (and in the 1920s). In fact, in 1926 Goerz merged into Zeiss Ikon, and by the 1940s the brand was no longer producing.
