Description from the seller
Antique Kähler art ceramic vase – Denmark, ca. 1930s
Wonderful antique art ceramic vase from Kähler Keramik / Herman A. Kähler, produced in Næstved, Denmark, presumably from circa the 1930s.
This characteristic vase is executed in the kohornsglasur glaze, a decorative glaze technique typical for Kähler that creates beautiful, irregular color and texture variations on the surface.
The richly decorated surface is marked by deep cobalt blue relief lines and organically shaped motifs, combined with warm browns, olive greens and yellows. The different glaze layers yield subtle gloss differences, giving the whole piece a lively and almost painterly character.
The combination of the striking form, handcraft, and distinctive color scheme makes this a very decorative piece within Danish ceramic art. A fine addition for collectors of Kähler, Danish design, and Scandinavian art ceramics, but also a special object for interior decor.
