A vintage hand-blown opaline glass vase dating from the 1960s–1970s, about 20 cm high and 11 cm wide, in a deep purple iridescent finish with metallic reflections, inspired by Loetz and Art Nouveau, featuring subtle organic indentations and a sculptural form.
Description from the seller
A beautiful vintage mouth-blown glass vase, dated around 1970, rendered in an intense purple, iridescent glass color with distinctive metallic reflections.
In the style of (Dans le goût de) Loetz: The vase is deliberately designed in the tradition of the famous Austrian glassworks Johann Loetz Witwe. Artists and glass studios in the 1970s created these vases as a tribute to the flowing, organic marble- and swirl-techniques from the Art Nouveau period.
The surface and form feature subtle organic indentations and irregularities, which seem to be the result of the glassblowing process and give the vase a pronounced sculptural character. Under different lighting, the color and luster of the glass change, causing the vase to take on a different appearance each time.
A particularly decorative object that works as both a vase and a standalone piece of art. The combination of color, iridescent shine, and artisanal appeal makes this an attractive piece for collectors of vintage glass art and lovers of sculptural design.
