Description from the seller
Stunning and luminous large-format oil on canvas (120 x 60 cm) depicting an animated maritime scene in the historic port of Hong Kong.
The work captures a remarkable twilight atmosphere where the setting sun lights the urban background and the textured sails of several traditional Chinese junks.
The knife-and-brush technique yields generous texture and a beautiful handling of light, characteristic of East Asian export art movements of the 1970s
• Signature: Signed bottom right in Latin characters
• Dimensions: 120 cm x 60 cm.
• Support: Oil on canvas stretched on a high-quality wooden frame.
• Provenance & Finish: Presence of a French framer’s stamp based in Tours on the back of the frame, certifying its mounting on a professional frame in France.
• Condition: Good overall. Painting restored. Presence of a slight surface wear in the dark areas, which has been repaired. Canvas sound and well stretched.
A striking, large decorative piece, ideal for a retro, sixties or seventies interior, or for an Asia-Pacific import art collection.
