Description:

A rare book from the Reformation period, printed in a well-known Leipzig printing house. It contains the biblical Psalms of David and the Book of Ecclesiastes by Solomon, which the famous poet Helius Eobanus Hessus artfully rewrote into Latin rhymes. The explanations accompany them from the Nürnberger pastor Veit Dietrich. A handsome piece of history.

Binding & Condition:

Binding lightly rubbed and bumped, small defects at the corresponding corners top and bottom. Closes no longer functional, closing remnants present. Front pastedown and flyleaf bear handwritten notes in brown ink. Text underlinings in brown ink on page 357 and page 370. The text block is throughout slightly browned, occasionally finger-marked and somewhat damp-stained. Both covers, the first 2 pages, as well as from page 197 have a few small wormholes, only affecting the text margin. The last 3 leaves have a white margin defect without text loss, only some loss of letters.

A collectible complete copy.
