Description from the seller
Walter Sita (XXth century) – Paris, the Opera
Walter Sita is a French painter influenced by the great masters of the 19th century. He particularly favors views of Paris, which he depicts in an elegant and lively style, characterized by a generous palette and careful attention to light and atmosphere.
This work depicts the Paris Opera at the centre of a busy boulevard. The famous building dominates the composition, surrounded by Parisian façades, shops and a crowd of passers-by. The horse-drawn carriages and vehicles give the scene an atmosphere reminiscent of Paris in a bygone era.
The luminous palette blends blues, ochres, reds and warm golden tones of the shopfronts. The roadway, animated by reflections, as well as the artist’s visible brushwork, give the whole piece a great sense of movement and depth.
Technique: oil on canvas
Dimensions: 90 × 60 cm
Signature: signed by the artist
Support: canvas mounted on a keyed stretcher
The artist's biography will be provided in French with the artwork upon shipment.
