Rare bronze hand with ring signed Alphonse Giroux & Cie, Paris – 19th century

Curious and elegant bronze art object depicting a sculpted hand with remarkable attention to detail and naturalistic modeling.

The piece features a beautiful patina, which underscores the realism of the sculpture. The hand is adorned with a ring and bears a monogram “DD” on a polygonal element located on the back of the hand.

The reverse bears an engraved inscription “Alph. Giroux & Cie à Paris”, attributing the object to the famous Parisian house specialized in art and luxury objects in the 19th century.

Three threaded holes are visible at the extremities of the hand. Their function remains to be determined and constitutes an interesting feature of this object. It probably served to mount a base so that the piece could be displayed to its best advantage.
