A handsome complete set of 13 volumes in the original edition of The History of the Dukes of Burgundy of the Valois line (1364-1477) by Prosper de Barante, published in Paris by Ladvocat between 1824 and 1826.
Important illustration including numerous maps and folded engraved plans, several with outlines enhanced in color, as well as portraits and engravings hors texte.
Very beautiful uniform period binding in half-leather, spine with raised bands richly decorated and gilded, title and volume labels, marbled boards and edges.
The 13th volume contains the general alphabetical index and closes the work.
Nice overall condition for this bicentennial set. Bindings solid and decorative with some rubbing and signs of use. Foxing more or less present depending on volumes, visible in the photographs. Maps and plans showing their original folds and some signs of use.
A complete set and particularly decorative of this original edition, sought especially for its rich cartographic illustration.
