Description from the seller

Rare and fascinating Jizai Okimono (articulated bronze figure) from the period, depicting a Samurai in combat stance with armor and Kendo mask (Bogu and Men).

This piece of exquisite craftsmanship, made in Japan between the late Meiji Period (1868-1912) and the Taisho Period (1912-1920), stands out for the extraordinary feature of arms that are fully jointed and articulated. This allows changing the warrior's posture and positioning him in various dynamic combat poses.

Another detail of great value is the sword (katana/shinai) entirely removable from the warrior's hands.

The armor, protective mask and garment are finely incised and rich in decorative traditional details. The casting in solid bronze is well balanced and gives substantial and solid weight to the sculpture.

Item type: Articulated sculpture (Jizai Okimono)

Subject: Samurai / Kendo Warrior

Origin: Japan

Estimated period: Late Meiji / Taisho (early 1900s)

Material: Solid bronze with original dark patina

Height: 13 cm

Length: 9 cm

Depth: 7 cm

Weight: 575 g

Condition: The piece is presented in good vintage condition, with an authentic patina of the times. It shows natural signs of wear and age (small surface scratches and slight traces of oxidation) attesting to its age and authenticity. The arm articulation mechanism is perfectly functional. Please carefully examine the photograph gallery, which is an integral part of the description.
