Pair of oil paintings by European School (Mary Golay), titled The Harp and Miss Sunflower, from 1960–1970, sold with frame and in good condition, hand-signed, original edition, created on panel and mounted in black decorative frames.
Description from the seller
Elegant pair of decorative Art Nouveau paintings, depicting two famous Mary Golay compositions (1869–1944): The Harp and Miss Sunflower.
The works are oil on panel and reproduce Mary Golay’s decorative designs, characterized by graceful female figures set in elaborate floral Liberty-style settings.
On the back of each panel there is a handwritten inscription “Da Mary Golay (1869–1944)”, accompanied by the corresponding title of the work, The Harp and Miss Sunflower.
Both paintings are signed by the executor; however, the signature has not been deciphered with certainty. The works should therefore be considered copies or later pictorial interpretations by Mary Golay.
The two works form a pendant, designed as a decorative pair. They do, however, present a slight difference in dimensions, particularly in height, a factor to be noted although they appear almost identical in the photographs.
Measurements: “The Harp”: painted 98 × 43 cm; with frame 113 × 58 cm. - “Miss Sunflower”: painted 97.5 × 47.5 cm; with frame 108 × 58.5 cm.
The works are in good overall condition. There are light signs of aging and minimal surface abrasions, compatible with the period. The support is stable and no significant structural issues are evident. Overall, the works are structurally sound and well preserved, while retaining the physiological traces of time that attest to their authenticity and conservation history.
The works are presented with their decorative black frames, which contribute to the overall visual impact of the pair. They are included as a courtesy and are not an integral part of the art work; any damage to them will not be grounds for complaint or cancellation of the order.
Works accompanied by a photographic certificate of authenticity, as required by current law.
Shipping via insured express courier and packaging executed with the utmost care.
