Description from the seller
This is a set of eleven vintage Japanese handmade flat chisels—specifically the *oi-ire nomi* type. As traditional forged Japanese woodworking tools, they are highly prized by woodworking enthusiasts and collectors of vintage tools.
The set offers a comprehensive range of blade widths, spanning from narrow chisels for fine work to wide-blade flat chisels. They are suitable for a variety of tasks, including cutting mortise-and-tenon joints, clearing out recesses, and trimming or leveling surfaces. Crafted using the traditional Japanese laminated steel technique, the chisels feature a high-hardness steel core and excellent heat treatment, delivering exceptional sharpness once honed.
The solid wood handles are fitted with reinforced metal hoops to prevent splitting during prolonged use; notably, several handles still retain their original manufacturer's labels. While some blades may require re-sharpening or initial honing, the tools are ready for practical use after minimal maintenance and are equally suitable for display in a vintage tool collection.
