This classic edition of The Imitation of Jesus Christ is offered in the French translation established by Abbot M. Debonnaire, enriched with reflections, prayers at the end of chapters, a table of contents, as well as the ordinary of the Mass with explanations of its various parts. The work is dedicated to the Duchess of Orléans.
Splendid contemporary binding in full red morocco, richly decorated on the boards with a wide gilt dentelle border and corner motifs. Spine with raised bands ornamented with gold compartments featuring grenades or floral motifs, and a red morocco title-piece. Spines and corners very well preserved for its age.
Clean, fresh text pages, adorned with wood-engraved headpieces and initials.
