Mère et Enfant en tenue Aristocratique, a 1878 Neo-Romantic oil painting by Heinrich Heinz Ewers from Germany, depicting an interior scene; 45 cm by 37 cm, sold with frame, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Heinrich "Heinz" Ewers (1817, Wismar – 1885, Düsseldorf)
- Mother and Child in Aristocratic attire, painted in 1878
Very beautiful family scene by Heinrich Ewers (1817–1885), depicting a young mother holding her child on her lap, presumably the artist's wife and son.
The young woman wears a sumptuous, aristocratically inspired outfit, with a large lace collar, refined bodice, and jewelry, giving this intimate scene an almost princely elegance.
Work dated May 16, 1878 and monogrammed, remarkable for the softness of the expressions and the finesse of the rendering of the fabrics and the flesh tones.
A work of fine quality, particularly appealing for the softness of the subject, the richness of the costume, and its remarkable old frame.
Oil on canvas on a oak panel, signed and dated mid-left 1844, dimensions 35x27 cm.
Beautiful frame: 45x37 cm.
The work is in very good condition, oil on original canvas on an oak panel.
On the reverse, an important handwritten dedication dated Düsseldorf, April 14, 1885, signed Heinz and Maria Ewers, as well as an old label identifying the models as the artist's wife and child.
Certificate of authenticity will be provided to the purchaser.
Easy delivery to China and Taiwan with minimal or no customs fees.
We have an office in Shanghai.
*Images shown indoors are provided for illustration purposes. The apparent dimensions and proportions of the work may differ from its actual format.
