Description from the seller
A fine and highly atmospheric late 19th or early 20th-century watercolor painting belonging to the British School, beautifully capturing the poetic and melancholy essence of the Scottish Highlands or Northern English moors.
The tonal, muted palette perfectly channels the Late Victorian and Edwardian landscape tradition.
The work is monogrammed in the lower-left corner (appears to read F.A.F. ) and ready to hang.
Artistic School: British School / Scottish School
Period: circa 1900 (Late Victorian / Edwardian)
Water color on heavy wove paper
Monogrammed lower left (F.A.F.) -
Presented in a beautiful ornate gold-gilded frame with matching gold passpartout.
The watercolor itself is in very good, fresh condition with excellent color preservation. The antique frame shows minor, authentic signs of age and light wear to the corners, adding to its genuine period character (please refer to the detailed photographs).
