Beautiful photograph of Jacqueline Kennedy on arrival at Mexico City International Airport on June 29, 1962, during the state visit of President John F. Kennedy and his wife to Mexico.
On the tarmac, Jacqueline Kennedy appears smiling and elegant, amidst the official welcoming ceremonies. The photograph captures a spontaneous moment of this historic visit, before the Kennedy couple’s meeting with Mexican President Adolfo López Mateos.
This state visit, which took place from June 29 to July 1, 1962, was set within the context of United States–Mexico relations and inter-American discussions of the time, notably around the Alliance for Progress.
