Description from the seller
Luis Enrique González
Gold and Scarlet, 2026
Oil on canvas, 41 × 41 cm (stretcherless)
Signed (lower right)
Includes certificate of authenticity
Work entirely handmade
Portrait of a European goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis) perched on a branch, with the body in three-quarters and the head turned to the right. The artist resolves with precision the red mask, the white cheek with bluish tints, and the black nape band, and contrasts the warm brown back with the black wings tipped in white and the bright yellow band. The eye, dark with a small gleam, gives life to the whole figure, and the feet grasp the branch naturally.
Against a deep olive-green background, with visible brushwork, yellow-green sprouts and leaves, softly out of focus, enfold the bird. The branch and the body trace an ascending diagonal that guides the gaze to the head. The result is a luminous image, with strong chromatic presence and a spring-like air.
A decorative piece of compact format, suitable for an office, a reception area, or a living room.
The work is shipped unstretched, rolled and protected in a transport tube, to ensure its preservation. Frame-inclusive images are only indicative (show how it would look framed); the frame is not included in the sale.
