Description from the seller
Antique Luigi XV Style Nightstand with Inlays, Contemporary Finish, and Marble Top
Enchanting and eclectic nightstand, a piece that unites the classic elegance of the Luigi XV style (Louisin, with Transición influences) with a lively and modern orange varnish. This unique pairing creates a piece with strong personality, perfect for adding a touch of color and history to any space, whether classical or contemporary.
Key Details:
Period/Style: The overall style recalls the a “Louisin” or a transitional phase toward Luigi XVI, visible in the curved cabriole legs and the shape of the furniture body, while maintaining a certain linearity. The exact manufacturing date is not certified, but the piece has an antique flavor that blends with later interventions.
Construction and Materials: The cabinet features a main body painted in a warm orange hue. The drawer and the door are made with elegant figured walnut veneer.
Decorative Details:
Inlays: Both on the drawer front and on the door are refined geometric and scroll inlays in lighter wood (veneer striations), framing the walnut surfaces, typical of high-quality cabinetry.
Hardware: The drawer and door are enriched with bronze or gilded metal handles/bosses that are embossed and finely worked.
Top: The piece is crowned by a thick slab of gray-black marble with natural white veining (like Bardiglio marble or similar), following the piece’s curved lines.
Functionality: It features a top sliding drawer and a lower compartment closed by a door with an interior shelf, offering practical storage space.
Condition:
The nightstand is in overall good structural condition. It shows normal and charming signs of age consistent with its age.
