Description from the seller
Miguel de Miguel – International Visual Artist*
Miguel is a Spanish visual artist who began his career in 1980 and has developed a solid and emotionally intense track record, recognized worldwide. He has exhibited in cities such as New York, Hong Kong, Paris, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City, and his work is part of some of the most important collections internationally. He currently resides and creates in Italy.
His painting combines figure and abstraction with a language of its own, where vibrant color, symbolic forms, and deep textures speak of identity, memory, and inner silence. Faceless figures, symbolic natures, and scenes suspended in time form a poetic and sensitive universe.
With more than four decades of creation, Miguel de Miguel offers a body of work that is not only observed: it is experienced from the most intimate self. An art that crosses borders, styles, and words.
In Confluencia, Miguel de Miguel builds a meeting of two female figures that transcends representation to become an experience of energy and presence. The red, intense and material, dominates the surface as a vital force that penetrates the bodies and almost makes them one entity.
The faces, fragmented by planes of color and gestural strokes, deliberately retain a certain ambiguity. It matters less who the figures are than what happens between them: a silent proximity, an inner communication, a way of recognizing oneself in the other.
The deep blue appears as a counterpoint and tension within the red, opening cracks of depth and making the composition vibrate. In the background, violets and magentas create an enveloping, almost spiritual space, that contains and amplifies the intensity of the figures.
Thus the work participates in one of the constants of Miguel de Miguel’s language: the transformation of figure into symbol. The body ceases to be merely a body and becomes emotional matter, energy and presence.
Confluencia speaks, ultimately, of two beings who meet and, in that meeting, cease to be completely separate.
