Description of the Work:
Three-dimensional sculpture that fuses the iconography of the classical vanitas with an expressive, contemporary formal treatment.
. The piece represents a skull with its jaws open in a dramatic gesture, on which two hands wrap around the skull from the rear.
The work stands out for its rigorous textural work and chromatic pattern through overlapping drips (dripping) in azur tones, emerald green, cobalt blue, reddish hues and white accents.
The dense flow of pigment blurs the boundary between anatomical structure and three-dimensional volume, generating a dynamic interaction between the weight of matter, gravity and the sculpted form.
A piece with strong visual impact that explores the tension between anatomical containment and plastic overflowing.
About the Artist
Charles Farigola is a multidisciplinary artist based in Madrid, whose work has been published in international outlets such as Vogue Italia. His plastic work explores formal architecture, organic pattern, and the density of matter, combining contemporary sculptural techniques with ongoing research into surface, gravity, and color.
