Enrico Manfrini (Lugo 1917 – Milan 2004)
Collection of 28 plaques and medals of Sacred Art and Nativity, including 27 artist’s Christmas keepsakes in a limited edition and an important single large-format piece.
A lot of great historical and artistic interest conceived by Enrico Manfrini, famed as "The Sculptor of the Popes".
The collection is thus structured:
- THE EXCEPTION PIECE:
Large round plaque in gilded bronze, preserved in its elegant rigid original storage case. A single high-value work outside the keepsake series, designed as a representative gift or special commission.
- THE HISTORICAL PIECE (1978):
Plaque from 1978 (kept on green cardboard): a piece of great historical significance marking the year of the election of Pope John Paul II, the moment that began the historic collaboration between the sculptor and the Pontiff.
- NUCLEUS OF NATIVITY KEEPSAKES IN LIMITED EDITION (26 Pieces):
Series spanning 1990 – 2005: 18 rectangular plaques in silvered bronze (16 consecutive years + 2 years in double copies).
5 Nativity Editions without year: Keepsakes depicting the Nativity, produced outside the ordinary annual numbering.
1 Nativity commemorative plaque 2009.
