Description from the seller
Biography
Rob van Oosten (1963) began painting in his teens. By, among other things, copying the 'old masters,' he discovered what oil paint could do. However, his career did not head toward the artist’s path; he became a teacher. He continued painting alongside. For many years these were still lifes with flowers, vegetables, and fruit, but he noticed that he could not express his creativity sufficiently here. That changed when he began adding sand to his work and started using materials such as putty knives and steel brushes. His work became rougher and increasingly approached abstraction. Rob finds his inspiration in life. It can be beautiful, but it also has many rough edges.
Rob van Oosten’s work has found its way into private collections in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, and Greece.
Recent sales exhibitions were in the “Tree Museum” in Doorn and at “Castle Amerongen.”
