Office of Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra. For the day of the Feast, & the day of the Translation of the Relics, according to the order of the Breviary of Rouen
In Rouen, At Pierre Machuel's, rue Saint Lo, opposite the Palais, at the Bien-Aimé, 1735 (M. DCC. XXXV.)
Liturgical book containing the complete ecclesiastical office dedicated to Saint Nicholas (Bishop of Myra), including chants, psalms, hymns, and prayers for his feast and for the translation of his relics, drawn up specifically « according to the order of the Breviary of Rouen ».
The work opens with a magnificent copper-engraved frontispiece by Cl. Duflos representing Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra blessing children. It also contains numerous pages of musical scores notated in square notation on four-line staves for liturgical singing.
Full brown calfskin of the period, spine with raised bands adorned with gilt cartouches of floral motifs and a tan title piece ("OFFIC. DE S. NICOL."). Signs of use and rubbing on the tips and joints, but the binding remains solid.
Well complete with the engraved frontispiece, the title page in red and black, and the musical parts. Some scattered damp-stains/browning.
