Testament, or Faithful Advice, from a good father to his children. In which are contained several Christian, moral, and political reasonings
In Paris, printed by Antoine Vitré. At Pierre Le Petit, Printer and ordinary Bookseller to the King, rue Saint Jacques, at the Golden Cross, 1658 (M. DC. LVIII.)
Ninth enlarged edition of this famous collection of moral, Christian, and political precepts written by Pierre Fortin, lord of la Hoguette, dedicated to the First President of Bellievre. The work also includes other notable texts, including the famous Royal Catechism.
Full red Morocco leather of the period, spine with raised bands richly adorned with gold-tooled compartments and a morocco title-piece, with gold fillet borders on the boards. Worn at the headcaps and corners, but the overall structure remains solid.
Clean interior, complete with its title page bearing an engraved vignette and ancient handwritten notes, as well as the text of the catechism.
Good copy of this little‑known work.
