Description from the seller
Mario Galanti — “The Return of the Fishermen at Golden Hour”
Painting on canvas, 40 × 50 cm
A scene of seafaring life unfolds under a sunset sky, dominated by a bright band of yellows, oranges and reds. Numerous fishing boats, animated by small figures and equipped with oars, ropes and nets, occupy the bay, creating a choral narrative of the relationship between man and sea. The nearer boats, described with greater precision, guide the eye toward the distant ones and toward the sails that punctuate the horizon.
On the right, a rocky coast supports a group of buildings with warm façades, illuminated by the last glow of the day. Their vertical presence balances the breadth of the sky and the expanse of the sea. A golden wake crosses the water, while the waves in the foreground break into slender white crests along the beach and the rocks. The contrast between the deep shadows of the sea and the brightness of the sunset gives the composition a strong scenic appeal. The work evokes the moment of return, when daily toil meets the quiet of the evening.
