Description from the seller
De Luca — “La stanza del mare”
Oil on canvas, 50 × 40 cm
A wide arch frames a seascape, turning the interior of a house into a space open to light and the horizon. The walls, painted in warm ochre and brown tones, surround the intense blue of the sky and the blue of the sea, creating a balance between domestic enclosure and the breath of the landscape. Beyond the threshold, a slender railing marks the terrace, while a tree with a sinuous trunk rises on the right and stretches its crown into the upper part of the opening.
Two terracotta pots with flowers introduce familiar details, echoing the warm colors of the environment. A seating area with light cushions, positioned on the right, suggests a place for rest and contemplation. Light passes through the arch and, on the floor, traces a weave of shadows, reflections, and irregular forms, giving depth to the scene. The perspective guides the eye from inside toward the sea, where subtle bright marks suggest the movement of the water. The work returns the quiet of a Mediterranean refuge, inhabited by light and the silent presence of the sea.
