MAINBOURG, Louis. History of Lutheranism by Fr. Louis Maimbourg of the Society of Jesus. In Paris, at Sebastien Mabre-Cramoisy, 1680. 2 volumes in 12mo of [20 (epistle, summary of the books)]-437-[2]pp., [12 (summary of the books)]-393-[1]-[26 (table of contents)]pp., bindings in full fawn calf slightly later, spine with 5 raised bands ornamented with compartments and gilded rosettes, rubbed, title and pagination gilded framed by gilded fillets, rubbed, the upper and lower caps of volume I worn smooth, the lower cap and tail of the spine worn smooth, the upper hinge of volume II cracked but not seriously; binding firm and solid, gold tooling on the edges, corners and edges rubbed, two phrases handwritten in black ink on the upper part of each first endpaper, handwritten ex-libris on black ink and crossed out on each title page, fine engravings on each title page, some notes in the margins, small engravings in a bandeau and small tail-pieces, some rare foxing but interior fresh, pages densely speckled with red edges, good and handsome copy.
