Camille Rousseau (1949) – Elegance by the Sea

Camille Rousseau, born in Paris in 1949, is a French painter whose pictorial universe is particularly devoted to seaside scenes and summer atmospheres. Her work is characterised by a luminous approach, sensitive to variations in light and the colours of the coast.
This work depicts a group of holidaymakers gathered by the sea, in an elegant atmosphere reminiscent of the early seaside resorts. The figures, parasols and colourful umbrellas create a lively scene, while the open sea and sky bring a strong sense of light to the composition.
Camille Rousseau’s loose and expressive brushwork gives movement to the figures and fabrics. The blues, whites, reds, ochres and touches of yellow interact delicately, creating a lively and warm seaside scene.
