The work : An alpine and lacustrine composition with great freshness, celebrating the purity and brightness of the great lakes. In the foreground, light-sculpted pale rocks bathe in turquoise water of crystalline clarity. On the shore, a border of trees with tender green foliage catches the sun's rays, while a splash of bright red – a small motionless boat – provides a vibrant and poetic counterpoint to the painting.
