Beautiful set of 4 bibliophile-quality volumes richly illustrated, devoted to great texts of French and foreign literature.
The lot includes:
1. Edgar Allan Poe – Histoires extraordinaires
Translation by Charles Baudelaire. Illustrated edition including a portrait of Edgar Allan Poe as well as various black-and-white compositions. 2 volumes
2. Le Roman de Renart
Fine illustrated edition devoted to the adventures of Renart, Ysengrin and the other animals of the famous medieval cycle. Numerous black-and-white illustrations, animal banners and full-page compositions. Red decorative binding with richly ornate endpapers.
3. Madame de Lafayette – La Princesse de Clèves
Illustrated edition with numerous compositions and black-and-white vignettes, decorative banners and a beautiful layout. Red binding richly adorned with gold motifs and endpapers with fleurs-de-lis.
