Frans de Wit studied at the Royal Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. He received, among others, the Materiaalprijs Buys van Huklton in 1966 and the Jacob Hartogprijs in 1970
He made both monumental works, often on commission, as well as small objects. Very well-known monumental works of his are The Square Island in a puddle near Rotterdam and the Middenscherm in the Caland Canal, almost 2 km long and consisting of semicircular concrete elements 25 m high.
This bronze object is numbered 239/300, and signed on the bottom
It was specially designed for Galerie The Hague. It was also purchased by Centraal Museum in Utrecht, and the Francoise van den Bosch Collection.
This Object comes from the unique art collection of couturier Frans Molenaar (1940-2015), whose entire collection was sold after his death.
