The Macallan 1824 Series is a historic collection of no-age-statement (NAS) single malt whiskies. Launched in 2012 to replace classic 10- to 17-year-old expressions in certain markets, the series focused entirely on the natural color and flavor profile derived from maturation in Sherry-seasoned oak casks.
The brand officially discontinued the series in 2018 to reorganize its lineup around traditional age statements (Sherry Oak, Double Cask, and Triple Cask Matured).
Remaining bottles are now highly sought after by collectors.
• Macallan Gold: The entry-level expression, featuring a brilliant golden hue. Matured in a wide variety of Sherry casks, it offers fresh notes of citrus, vanilla, and green apple.
• Macallan Amber: Crafted from a slightly more selective range of casks. It presents a more pronounced amber color and a fine balance of ripe orchard fruits, light caramel, and gentle ginger notes.
• Macallan Sienna: Drawn from older, rigorously selected casks. Its warm ochre color complements rich flavors of figs, dates, toffee, and more pronounced oak spices.
• Macallan Ruby: The pinnacle of the standard range, matured exclusively in 100% first-fill Sherry casks. Its intense ruby color is matched by a rich, complex, and fruity profile, dominated by dried fruits and oak resin.
