Description from the seller

"Ritmos en tensión". 2026 146x97cm. Acrylic on canvas. Signed on the back.

(All materials used in this work aim to be environmentally friendly and acrylics of the highest quality with the ecofriendly label are chosen)

Meaning:

Critical commentary
"Ritmos en tensión" is articulated from a vertical structure that turns the canvas into a dynamic field of forces. The color bands —reds, pinks, yellows, blues, blacks and whites— overlap, are interrupted, and reappear, generating a sense of continuous movement.
One of the most significant aspects of the work is the conflict between order and spontaneity. The vertical repetition provides an almost architectural structure, while the gestures of the spatula, the scratches, the accumulations of matter and the zones of apparent wear introduce a gestural and unpredictable dimension. The work seems to be built, therefore, on the boundary between the controlled and the accidental.
The red provides an intense energy charge and establishes some of the main visual foci; the blues and blacks create depth, while the yellows function as luminous intrusions within the chromatic density. The whites and grays act as pauses that allow the composition to breathe.
From a critical perspective, its interest lies in the fact that abstraction is not limited to a decorative combination of colors. The vertical progression obliges the eye to move continually across the surface, finding in each stretch new relationships between color, matter and gesture. The repetition exists, but it does not lead to monotony: variations in texture and density keep the visual experience open.
In this sense, "Ritmos en tensión" can be read as an investigation into structure and freedom, stability and movement, construction and destruction. The painting does not represent a concrete landscape or a recognizable figure; its content lies in the perceptual and physical experience of painting.

About the author:

Tessa is a Spanish painter with a long career. Trained in the 1990s in painting courses at the Circulo de Bellas Artes in Madrid. In her works, color and geometry are elements through which she seeks balance and harmony. Influenced by the neoplasticist currents of the vanguards, she recreates a personal and suggestive body of work, where elegance and style are a testament to vital commitment. Her paintings have been shown in national and international galleries. She was a member of Ward Nasse Gallery in NYC in the 1990s, where she exhibited on several occasions, such as in the show "Peek a Boo" and other group shows. Recently she has participated in various international fairs promoted by Art3f, such as Paris 2020 or Monaco 2023.
