Description from the seller
Leduar González
Arrebato, 2026
Oil on canvas, 61 × 41.5 cm (unframed)
Signed
Includes certificate of authenticity
Work entirely handmade
Female portrait that openly dialogues with Baroque painting: the head thrown back, eyes narrowed toward the top, and lips slightly parted cite the iconography of the swoon or ecstasy in religious painting of the 16th and 17th centuries, reinforced by a pronounced chiaroscuro on a dark background and by the draped fabric covering the torso.
The artist introduces an element foreign to that tradition: two ornamental fish with large fins — one in intense red, the other in a gradient from red to blue — emerge at shoulder height, in the place that would occupy a wing or a religious attribute in old painting. The contrast between the solemn pose and the strangeness of the aquatic makeshift shifts the reading toward a dreamlike realm, without resolving it.
The work is shipped unframed, rolled and protected in a transport tube. Framed images are only indicative; the frame is not included in the sale.
