This amazing Syrah used to have a 10% component of the Bottelarij Hills, but is now a pure expression of the Karibib Farm in Polkadraai Hills, already the source of some of the Cape's best reds. Matured in large foudres to give the site the maximum expression, it has aromas of lavender, rosemary and incense, effortless concentration, blackberry, liquorice and tapenade flavors and remarkable energy, vibrancy and focus.
Winemaker Jean Smit, got experience at Dumol, California and Stephane Ogier in Côte Rôtie.
Tim Atkin put this wine as 'First Growth' in his 2023 South Africa report.
This wine got the same score as Eben Sadie's Columella.
