Description from the seller

Electric Field #1 — 2026

Colored cardboard cut into modules and glued onto prepared wooden board, with a back frame to create a wall-suspension effect.

Diameter: 100 cm

With Electric Field #1, Marco Ercoli inaugurates a new phase of his research, abandoning figuration to enter a more essential territory, where color, rhythm and matter become the true protagonists of the work.

The circular composition, with a diameter of one meter, is built through a dense succession of colored cardboard modules, cut out and manually applied to the wooden surface. Their arrangement generates a vibrant weave that seems to expand, contract and rotate around the center. The image is therefore not still: it changes continuously depending on distance, viewing angle and light incidence.

Patches of blue, turquoise, green, red, yellow and more neutral tones meet and cross, creating true chromatic vibrations. Color is not used to describe a recognizable form, but becomes itself structure, energy and movement. Hence the title Electric Field: the surface seems to behave like a field crossed by invisible forces, in which every color variation influences the next.

The particular working of the cardboard also introduces a strong tactile component. The repetition of the small elements produces a surface that is almost kinetic, suspended between painting, collage and relief, capable of perceptual change as the observer moves in front of the work.

With this series, Ercoli's research progressively sheds narrative and figuration to focus on the fundamental elements of the visual language: color, rhythm, repetition, light and space. The essentiality, however, does not coincide with a reduction of experience, but with the attempt to establish a more immediate relationship with the viewer.

Electric Field #1 thus does not offer an image to be interpreted in a unique way, but a perceptual experience: a chromatic field in which the gaze is invited to lose itself, following trajectories, contrasts and pulsations that seem to continue beyond the very boundaries of the work.

The work comes with a certificate of authenticity.
