Huis Achter de Molens, Maastricht is an original 1930–1940 oil on canvas board marouflage by Christoffel Hendrik Dijkman, an impressionist stadsgezicht of Maastricht along the Jeker viewed from Verwerhoek, signed, Netherlands, sold with a simple white frame; overall dimensions 54 × 49 cm including the frame, in reasonable condition.
Description from the seller
Christoffel Hendrik Dijkman (Sint-Maartensdijk 1879 – Borgharen 1954), Huis Achter de Molens, Maastricht (viewed from Verwerhoek).
City view along the Jeker in Maastricht, seen from Verwerhoek. In the foreground the watercourse, in the background an arched bridge with above it historic buildings with red tiled roofs and window boxes. Loosely but surely painted in subdued earth tones with warm light accents.
After his Hague period (1910–1925), during which he studied under, among others, Willem de Zwart, Dijkman settled in Maastricht. There he captured the city and the Maas valley in city and village views up to his death in 1954.
The work is included in the oeuvre catalog of the Christoffel Foundation (christoffeldijkman.nl) under No. 0083. Dijkman is registered with the RKD.
